Letter to the Editor
March, 2009

Dear Managing Editor,
I want to share some very positive input regarding the organization, RSVP. They are a rare group of caring and helpful people here on Long Island who were the most helpful and eager to provide their expertise during a time when no other organization was motivated or interested enough to help.

I rescued a beautiful, older Alaskan sled dog who was only an "outside dog" and needed to find a pet home for her under time pressure due to illness and pending surgery. These people took phone calls on weekends, provided immediate guidance and help with counseling, a willingness to include a story in their newsletter and actually took the time to write a creative and passionate ad which they then published on their page on the internet. Both the staff as well as volunteers where incredibly reliable and prompt in their ability to mobilize their own resources as well as followup. This organization is a tremendous credit to the community, the people in Sufflok County and all of Long Island. After my own exhaustive research and a desparate effort to contact every breed and animal rescue entity on Long Island, these folks surpassed any other group who claimed to be able to help. Even those organizations who have much larger endownments would not spend the time counseling and encouraging me to properly get the word out about this wonderful but hard-to-place dog. The RSVP group should be commended for their passion and serious commitment to their cause.

Sincerely,
P. Shaw
