A coat for "King"
The "Kelly Fund" rescues Sassy
Rescuing unloved Dakota living under shed

Kelly is "special." :0 LOL. Seriously though, just ask anyone who knows her. A personal trainer by profession, she is high energy and fortunately for dogs in need, she channels much of that energy toward helping them.

Barely a day goes by, where Kelly isn't doing something for her four legged friends. Whether it's walking the RSVP dogs, making home visits to check on past adoptions or cruising the neighborhood, looking for dogs that need assistance - and maybe a doghouse with straw on a cold winter day. She is out and about, on her days off and in-between appointments with clients and her job at the gym.

Kelly has met with dog owners throughout various communities, offering food, shelter and medical services provided through the RSVP community outreach and spay/neuter programs. She will also buy sweaters and coats for dogs kept outside year round and long, lightweight cable to replace short, heavy chains the dogs are often tethered to. Once, an inquisitive owner asked, "Do you get paid for this?" Her reply was simply, "No, I used to go shopping - but now I just help dogs."

Another good Samaritan heard about the work Kelly was doing and generously donated custom built, insulated dog houses for those dogs Kelly was assisting.

Kelly will frequent neighborhoods that others might consider unsafe. A police officer once asked her, "Who do you use for backup?" Always cautious, but undeterred, she will go wherever there is a need.

For her birthday, Kelly's sister organized a surprise party. She suggested that Kelly would prefer a donation to RSVP to help the animals, rather than a personal gift. Over $2000 dollars was raised which was allocated to a special fund. The "Kelly Fund" was used to rescue dogs from a local, overcrowded municipal shelter and privately board them until a home could be found.

Needless to say, no one appreciates her dedication more than the dogs that have been fortunate enough to meet her. Their response when Kelly arrives on the scene for a routine visit says it all. They love her. And she loves them right back.

If you would like to support Kelly and her outstanding volunteer work, a tax-deductible donation can be sent to
