"Nakai"

May, 2011

All RSVP rescued dogs have a sad tale to tell. Some have only half stories because their history is not known and a few are best left that way. Sometimes the truth is just be too painful to acknowledge. Nakai is one of those dogs. The veterinary hospital said he was dropped off by an anonymous person who found him on the side of the road, nearly dead. It was winter and the temperature was below freezing. He had fresh wounds over healed wounds. His hind legs were severely injured with one leg crushed. Nakai was a pit bull, approx. 6 month old and he had the tell tale signs of a bait dog used in fighting.

He stayed at the hospital for three weeks to heal his damaged body. An RSVP volunteer found a foster home to assist with his physical and emotional recovery. Nakai spent the next three (3) months being nurtured back to health. His foster is a profession dog handler specializing in canine behavior, training and positive reinforcement. She reports that Nakai is doing excellent and has been socialized with her own dogs and is non-reactive to other animals. He has a good disposition, learns quickly and wants to please.

Nakai needs a true hero and a permanent, loving home more than most. He is still young, only nine (9) months and weighs approx. 50lbs. Please help him overcome his horrific past. For more information, email smullen161@optonline.net (preferred), call
