"Eddie"
June, 2011
“Eddie” is a chocolate pit bull, only 11 mos. young. He was left tied to a sign post in the Bronx, malnourished, weighing only 46 lbs. His backbone and ribs protruded from his scant body and he suffered a severe wound in his groin area. His behavior evaluation read “NO CONCERN”, meaning he was very friendly and exhibited no aggression. But he was urinating blood and placed on the TO BE DESTROYED list in an overcrowded Manhattan shelter. He had 4 days to live. His only hope was to be rescued by a qualified, non-profit, humane organization. Many people expressed their concern for Eddie online, but no one stepped up. On what was to be his last day, Susan R., an RSVP volunteer offered to foster him. Eddie was taken to a local vet for surgery and fragments of bone were remove from his penis. Throughout this painful ordeal he was a perfect patient, grateful for the unfamiliar love and compassion he was shown.
Susan reports that Eddie is doing great. He recovered and now weighs 60 lbs. He likes to play with her own dogs and cats and quickly learned all the basic commands. Susan and RSVP gave Eddie his second chance, but he needs you to complete his life. Eddie's new home is entitled to a special fund/voucher for vet expenses for years to come.
