"Chester"
May, 2011
Say “Ahhh”. Who can resist this smiling face? It's contagious. Chester (the Jester) appears to be so happy, but in reality, his situation is nothing to smile about. He has been at the Riverhead Shelter for over one year.
The shelter has 17 dogs and some of them have been waiting for so long. The small, cute, “adoptable” dogs are always quick to go, but dogs like Chester wait as the months go by.
Chester is like so many others at the shelter, an American Staffordshire Terrier (aka pit bull), three (3) years young and approx. 60 lbs.
If you cannot adopt, please consider volunteering. There are only a few volunteers and some days no one comes. Maybe you cannot take Chester home, but you can take him for a walk. Tell him not to give up hope, that someone will come for him soon. Find out how you can help.
