"Casper"

April, 2011

Casper was rescued from New York City animal control as a special needs. He was brought to the shelter as a stray and unable to use his hind legs. How this most precious angel, a miniature poodle, approx. four (4) years young and only seven (7) lbs. ever came to such a fate will remain a mystery. It was "love at first sight" for an RSVP volunteer when the urgent notice was received from the Manhattan CAC. She could not say no. Other rescues and advocates who had heard about Casper extended their concerns and support. An offer for a custom cart with wheels was also discussed.

Arrangements were made to transport Casper to a foster home on Long Island and he was seen by a local veterinarian.

Dr. Wen's examination revealed that Casper could support himself with his hind legs given some encouragement. And there was resistance when slight pressure was applied which was a good sign - he was not paralyzed. Dr. Wen feels that with therapy and treatment Casper may walk again!

Everyone is thrilled with this good news.

If you would like to help Casper on his road to recovery, RSVP Inc. has begun a special fund to cover his medical expenses. Please consider a donation, any amount will help. And stay tuned for updates on our friendly ghost. Please visit
