Adopted Feb 2011
"Remy"
Sept, 2010
Remy is a mastiff mix, approx 1yr and 100lbs. She's been at the Riverhead Shelter for 6 mos. She is never walked. She is never taken outside. Other dogs are moved to outdoor pens during the day, but Remy has only known the inside of the kennel the entire summer. She never leaves her pen except to move to another, so her feces and urine can be hosed out. No one from the staff will walk her because she pulls. One staff worker was out on disability for the summer due to a pulled shoulder. There are concerns that she may accidentally cause another injury. She is very sweet and friendly but needs training.
Two RSVP volunteer trainers visited Remy. After a brief session, testing her ability to respond to commands, a clicker and food rewards, they gave a positive assessment and believe she has potential. RSVP wants to help Remy and is looking for someone who wants to help her too. Can you provide a temporary foster home? Training is available. Please give Remy a chance to prove herself.
