Sassy
August, 2009 / Updated Jan, 2010
“Sassy” is a Rottie mix, 5 years young and weighs approx. 90 lbs. She was surrendered to a local shelter along with another dog. Both had been kept outdoors. Sassy's teeth were worn down, possibly from gnawing on rocks, a diversion to pass the hours and days spent without any interaction or activity while tied to a tree.
RSVP rescued Sassy and placed her in a foster home. It was a great opportunity to test her in a new environment, since her backyard was the only world she had ever known. Sassy's reaction was tentative but she quickly developed a strong bond with her foster mom. She became a “Velcro” dog, sticking close by her redeemer, following her from room to room. Sassy was even reluctant to leave the house. It seemed that she feared being left outside, separated from her companion.
Sassy is house broken and knows basic commands. If you have a treat, she sits at attention and will give her paw before being asked. She can be left alone indoors, is well behaved and not destructive. However, she is not fond of other animals and would be best suited as an only pet.
Sassy is young, strong, can appear very intimidating but can also be a mush. If you would like more information or to meet her, visit www.rsvpinc.org or call (631) 728-3524.
