Chewy

“High five!” A familiar gesture exchanged between two people, or in this case, between shelter director Charlie McGinley and “Chewy.”

Named after the popular Star Wars character “Chewbacca,” Chewy is a very bright, yellow Labrador/shepherd mix with a winning personality. She was surrendered to the Brookhaven shelter when her family moved to a new home and pets were not allowed. She is gentle, intelligent, housebroken and a favorite with the staff and volunteers. She is pictured here in her “photo shoot” where she demonstrated her mastery of the commands, sit, paw, down, speak and “high five.”
