Carlita
Oct, 2009
Carlita is a beautiful German Shepherd mix who was surrendered when her owners moved. She has been at a local municipal shelter for several months now, hopeful that someone will take her home. Carlita may be “at risk,” which means she may be considered for euthanasia. And if you are unfamiliar with the term, dictionary.com defines it as “mercy killing, the act of putting to death or allowing to die.” It's interesting how we develop words to couch what might otherwise be unpleasant to acknowledge. The sad reality is that over 4 million dogs are “euthanized” every year, all for want of a home. So, if you are considering adding a pet to your home, please consider adoption vs. purchasing a dog from a pet store or breeder. And please consider Carlita. She is 6 years young, tan with black markings, weighs approx. 60 lbs., is house-broken, knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. Call (631) 728-3524 for more information or visit www.rsvpinc.org. Carlita is dying to meet you.
