Annette

How does a quiet, gentle beauty like "Annette" find herself in a shelter for over a year? Maybe it is her shy, submissive demeanor that causes visitors to pass her by. Maybe it is because when people enter the kennel, the other dogs get so excited and bark for attention, but Annette keeps her head down, just her eyes glance up in a hopeful way. And no one notices.

Once a woman felt sorry for her when she heard how long Annette had been there. She took Annette to the "meet and greet" room. Annette was so well-mannered. Unfortunately, the woman had 2 large dogs which proved to be too intimidating for our sophisticated lady.

Today Annette played with her friend Powder, an energetic and active American Staff. She hopes that tomorrow someone will take her out again. Maybe tomorrow will be "the day" and someone will take her home at last.

Annette is a lovely, fawn colored mix with dark shading around her muzzle. She is mid-sized and about 2 years young. Annette knows basic commands and has a gentle mouth when taking treats. She arrived at the shelter with another stray dog over a year ago.

For more information, contact Pet of the Week liaison, Roxanne at (631) 286-4940 or visit their website at www.brookhaven.org/animalshelter. The shelter currently cares for over 100 dogs, orphaned and waiting for a loving home.
