Update 12/18/2008 "Willow" has undergone a complicated surgery by Dr. Turetsky of East Hampton and her leg had to be re-broken. She has endured so much, but the good news is that she is recovering nicely and getting lots of TLC from the staff. She has a wonderful disposition and everyone loves her. Donations are still needed to cover Willow's medical expenses, so please consider a tax deductible donation for this sweet little girl. RSVP is also seeking a foster home while her leg heals.

Life is especially difficult when you're a stray dog in the winter. Within the past few weeks we've been hit with sub-freezing temperatures and torrential rain. Compound that with a lack of food and it doesn't take long before your health is compromised. Now add to this misfortune a broken leg. That's what “Willow” had to endure.

Fortunately, she was picked up by animal control and taken to a local vet. X-rays revealed a compound fracture which was not all that recent, leaving scar tissue and complicating treatment. The estimated cost was $1,400. Under the circumstances, the vet recommended euthanasia if the condition was not corrected. Unfortunately, municipal shelters do not have the funds to provide medical care for these situations. But RSVP, a non-profit rescue group is asking for donations which will ultimately restore her health and save her life.

Willow is a small/mid-sized, female, lab mix, less than 1 year, black with a white chest. She is friendly with all and has demonstrated her appreciation to the staff with a wagging tail and kisses.

Please come to Willow's rescue. All tax deductible donations, however small are welcome. A check can be made out to RSVP, Inc. and mailed to P.O. Box 335, Eastport, NY 11941. Call (631) 357-1435 for more information or visit their website at www.rsvpinc.org.
