Pal

Pal was a stray picked up by a local shelter in May. He was fairly typical of the dogs that usually wind up in shelters. Brindle, short hair, male, mid-sized, about 1 year. No doubt he belonged to someone at some point in his life. Someone who got careless, or maybe just didn't care. And Pal went from the street to the shelter. And there he stayed.
Typically, when a dog arrives at a shelter they are scared. And understandably. The incessant barking, odors, anxiety and tension permeate the atmosphere. They are fed. They are not abused. For some, it is a better life than they had. And they wait. For days, weeks, sometimes months. Some adjust. And some don't. For some, the virtual isolation, limited exercise and lack of social contact become more than they can bear.
Pal dealt with his stress in one of the few ways he could. He began to spin in his kennel. Not unusual for a dog who is caged for an extended period and not a sign of some other more deep rooted problem. But, unfortunately, it put him at risk.
RSVP pulled him from the shelter with the hope of finding him a foster or permanent home. Pal is every dog. He is playful, loving, eager to please and just needs a chance. If you could give Pal that chance, by providing him with a caring home even if it is only temporary you will have helped to save his life. Call RSVP at (631) 728-3524 or visit their website at www.rsvpinc.org.
